There are half a million people of Irish descent living in and around the City of Glasgow. Most of their ancestors came over in the last century following the Great Famine of the eighteen-forties. In Glasgow they founded Irish clubs and societies, built Celtic Park, and virtually created the Catholic Church. But after a hundred years they still do not seem to know whether they are Irish or Scots, whether they belong to Glasgow or are just paying the city a life-long visit.
